Social Phobia Workshop

Open up your world!

The Social Phobia Workshops are run frequently throughout the year at the Anxiety Disorders Clinic, 77 Morningside Drive, St. Lukes.

The workshops run for 11 weeks at a cost of $65 per session.

The first session will be facilitated by the founder of the Phobic Trust, Marcia Read QSO, who is a former sufferer of Social Phobia. Subsequent sessions will be facilitated by specialists in their field (including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).

Topics include: Family involvement, confidence, avoidance, loneliness, shyness, fear, education, maintaining progress, dealing with setbacks.

Specialist Topics include: Communication, public speaking, medication, relaxation, grief.

Also Included: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Current research shows that small group work results in the best outcomes for people who have varied social phobias, yet we know how scary it is for socially phobic people to face others in situations where they feel under scrutiny.  So our workshops are gentle and non-threatening.  You will also benefit from meeting people who feel like you do.

These workshops are an opportunity for you to receive support from (and give to) others. By attending you will learn a range of skills to overcome your fears. The content of the sessions will vary in order to provide a progressive therapy. Included are Exposure and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, Relaxation Techniques and a discussion of medications.

There is a family day and certificates will be given on completion of the workshop.

These weekly workshops are gentle and non-threatening and have the advantage of bonding with other people (who are just as fearful as yourself) for mutual support. Call us and we'll help you to open up your world!
